Howl'oween Pet Costume Contest and Event by Dogadillo

October 24, 2010 12-6 p.m.
Dogadillo and The Hill Country Galleria would like to invite you to our 4th Annual Howl’oween Event and Pet Costume Contest on Sunday,October 24th from Noon - 6:00 PM. This fun, free and dog-friendly event will be held at the mall amphitheater which will include local vendors, pet rescue groups and the ever-popular pet costume contest.

Events will include dog agility demonstrations, variety of activities for small children, bands playing on stage throughout the day and The Rolling Sculpture Car Show and Bee Cave Library Art Show will also be held at the mall on the 24thJoe McDermott, a Parent’s Choice Award winning songwriter for children, will be performing Sunday afternoon.

Seminar Content

Day 1 (indoors):

  • An overview of positive gun dog training
  • Clicker training basics
  • Foundation training: Sit, Stay, Heel, Recall
  • Scent games
  • The clicker retrieve

Day 2 (outdoors at Kinetic Canine):

  • Into the field: Adding distance and distractions
  • Introduction to field training equipment
  • The Beginning Retriever, Spaniel or Versatile Gundog Test

Note: No live birds are used and there is no gunfire in this training.

 Jim Barry

 Jim Barry, CPDT, CDBC, is Reston Dog Training’s principal training instructor.  He is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant under the auspices of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).  Jim also has the designation of Certified Professional Dog Trainer (Knowledge Assessed) from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.

He is author of The Ethical Dog Trainer (Dogwise, 2008) and co-author of Positive Gun Dogs: Clicker Training for Sporting Breeds (Sunshine Books, 2007).
